AGENDA’s partner in Thailand, Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) on August 2 organized an Advocacy Campaign Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, attended by 56 participants representing various organizations of persons with disabilities, government bodies such and Council as Election Commission of Thailand (ECT), Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Bureau of Special Education Administration from Ministry of Education, Council of Persons with Disabilities Thai, and universities. Dr Seree Nonthasoot, Thailand Representative to ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) from 2013 to 2018 gave opening remark and introduction on ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025 on the workshop. The workshop has raised awareness and understanding of disabled people organizations (DPOS) and related stakeholders on the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025 as well as developed a strategic planning to conduct capacity building of DPOs and promoting the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025in their own network and to the public. DPO representatives also presented Joint Statement developed by ANFREL Foundation and the Persons with Disabilities Network for participation in politics and elections.
