NCBM is an umbrella body for the five major voluntary organizations serving the blind people which are the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB), Society of the Blind in Malaysia (SBM), St. Nicholas’ Home (SNH), Sabah Society for the Blind (SHSB), Sarawak Society for the Blind (SKSB). The organizations collectively offer a wide range of services to blind and vision-impaired persons to assist them to regain confidence in order to participate fully in society. The services include counseling, rehabilitation, vocational training, job placement, community-based rehabilitation, advice on and sale of blindness-related equipment and low vision aids, etc. Some examples of these services are orientation and mobility training, vocational training, braille and language classes, and early intervention program for children with visual disabilities.
