National Coalition for the Blind Malaysia (NCBM) on June 25, met with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, also the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. At the meeting, Wan Azizah mentioned that the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025: Mainstreaming the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Masterplan) is one of the international commitments that will be used to bench-mark the Malaysian government’s policies, in addition to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific. NCBM also presented Wan Azizah with the three priority areas of its policy platform: education, accessibility, and the participation of persons with disabilities in official decision-making.
