On December 3, AGENDA Disability Rights Advisor, Tolhas Damanik, participated as a panelist for session three on disability civic engagement in the United States Government’s Summit for Democracy side event. In this session, Tolhas shared advocacy strategies in promoting inclusive elections and implementing the Enabling Masterplan. Tolhas also pointed out key important factors contributing to successful advocacy which include the active participation of OPDs in initiating changes, introducing good practices on the implementation of the disability rights to the government and other stakeholders, and building allyship with other organizations on intersectional issues. Tolhas also highlighted that youth and women with disabilities should be more involved in the advocacy efforts on disability rights to increase their participation in advocacy efforts.
